Barron To Get Hitched – Daily Power Stat

hitchens-horseAnother non-runner yesterday for the Daily Power Stat which concluded our Glorious Goodwood attempts at making a small 1.75 points profit over the five days. We had two non-runners, two losers and one winner at 6/1 SP which clinched the profit. It’s actually a sigh of relief for yours truly as it has been a very tough Goodwood and I’m actually looking forward to a few easier races to analyse over the coming week!

So onto the first “easier” race of the week and we look at a Class 1 listed race run over 6 furlongs with 12 runners contesting for the gold. Did I say easier! Our trainer who will hopefully have done us proud come just after the 3.05 at Chester will be David Barron.

Barron arrives here today with just the one runner having traveled just over 130 miles to saddle up. He’s looking to maintain his current 21% strike for a level stakes profit of £15.00p. His only runner today is Hitchens and he carries top weight.

Hitchens ran a terrible race last time out at Ascot but as a hold up horse who likes to run on in the final stages of the race he was never afforded the chance to get his head in front as he did over at the Curragh the month before in a Group 3 race. With a much smaller field of 12 today he should have plenty of chance to get up in the final stages. I’ve priced him up as a 4/1 chance so the fact that I can get on with certain bookies at 15/2 is cracking value.

Selection: Hitchens in the 3.05 Chester at 15/2 for an e/w bet
